Day 7: Nanchang People's Park and Porcelain Shops

This is the way we start each day, we all rub Ava down with lotion! She laughs, and likes to help and probably thinks we  are crazy, but she likes it! Her skin is prettier already.

After breakfast we headed out to the People's Park. It was just a pretty park where people come to dance, exercise and play.

There is also an amusement park there, but there is no way I would ever ride on any of those rides!!

Things are so different here in China. This is a broom. There is constantly people sweeping the streets, because the town is so dirty. People just throw paper or trash out their car windows all the time, or if they are walking down the street they throw it on the sidewalk.

Notice there is no Ava in this picture, that's because we are out in public, and she only wants to be held by Daddy!!

Work out equipment!

Notice how she is grabbing on to Craig's finger, but I have to grab on to her hand!!!

There are food markets everywhere. People usually buy what they need for the day each day.

Nanchang is known for making porcelain. We visited a few shops and saw some beautiful things.

Ava loves other children!

This is our guide Lily. She is beautiful, and so nice and helpful.

Finally, a picture of my 3 daughters! And Craig wasn't even holding her :)

Mice, bunnies, supper anyone???

After the porcelain shops we headed to the flea market where we bought some clothes to donate to Ava's orphanage when we go tomorrow. The streets were so crowded.

Lots of crazy looking food!

We bought about 7 outfits for $34. Very cute warm outfits with the slits in the pants!

We tried to buy shoes for Ava, but if your exact size wasn't out there then they really wouldn't help us find the right size. They figure out the size by holding the shoe up to the bottom of the child's foot. They couldn't understand why we wouldn't buy a pair of shoes when they fit. They cared nothing about color or style. Well, we did not end up buying the pair of green frog tennis shoes that fit. We will survive with what we have until we can get some that we like!

Oh my goodness, Craig has met his match!! They are both so goofy!

Pretty girl!!

These are what the shops look like on the streets from our hotel to the restaurant we like to eat at. Little shops with metal garage doors to close them up.

Every evening around 5:30 or so all the street vendors line up on the sidewalks to sell their food. It is a very busy time. This is also when the kids are getting out of school.

This is our FAVORITE restaurant in Nanchang. We have been almost every day since we've been here!

Ava is changing so much. Up til now, she has just been so slow to eat and I usually end up feeding her. Tonight tho, she was a different eater, she picked up her spoon and starting shoveling food in her mouth. It didn't even take her that long to chew. She definitely does not pack her food though, and she stops when she is full.

This is just stuff for sale along the streets on the way back to the hotel. It gets dark around 6pm every night.

  1. Oh what fun! I miss Nanchang. Ask your "Lily" if she used to go by the name "Vivian". I swear she looks just like our guide we had. If same guide, she will probably remember us by my double stroller that I used to put all 3 girls in when we were there getting Elise.

Soak up Nanchang as much as you can and enjoy the food. You won't find any good food like that in GZ unfortunately.

  3. I love all your pictures & details! You guys are having a wonderful time! :) Ava's body looks like Layla's in the first picture. There is nothing to our girls! I told Thad this morning "give us your tired & hungry, they will gain weight." :) Layla has gained weight since we have her, girlfriend loves all the food she gets now but she is still so skinny.
