We had a nice relaxing free day today. We had lunch with the friends that we met at JFK airport (where we both missed our flights) then we just came back to the hotel and wandered around outside. We looked at the fish, and played in the grass. Laura stayed up in the room and worked on schoolwork during this time and Andrew really bonded with Christine. He wanted her to be with him wherever he went! Earlier he had kissed Laura, and played around with her, so it was really sweet seeing him love his big sisters!! It was so hot so we ended up spending the rest of the afternoon at the pool. I believe that was Andrew's favorite thing to do. Ava really wanted to go, but once we got there she just sat on our laps and watched Andrew splash around!
It was a pretty calm day--we went to our favorite restaurant for supper and came back and worked on getting packed up to leave in the morning!!!
This trip was so totally different than Ava's. With Ava it was such a wonderful family time of bonding and sightseeing. Exploring the new sights and smells and foods. Seeing a scared little girl open up and be silly and funny. And with Andrew, all I want to do is get him home, where he can meet his daddy, and begin to feel safe with us. He has been grieving so hard, and doing his best to survive, and we are grieving for him-struggling right along with him trying to make him feel loved and safe. I'm so ready to come home!!
