Day 14: Guangzhou Back to Shamian Island

Written about the day of Oct. 31, 2012

This was one of our only free days in our entire trip. So, we (The Furber's and us) decided to go back to Shamian Island for a few hours and have a good lunch and do a little more shopping. Shamian Island just had such a nice feeling to it, very peaceful! Away from the hubbub of the city! In order to go back to Shamian Island we had to get a taxi by ourselves, so we went to the concierge at our hotel and got one of their cards telling where we wanted to go (in Chinese) and then the hotels address, so we could show it to the taxi driver when we wanted to leave Shamian Island. Finding a taxi and getting to and from both places worked out great! We didn't get lost and it was fairly easy to find a taxi!

We went back to our favorite restaurant, Lucy's, on the Island where we could get that yummy iced tea with lemon! Christine had grilled cheese with french fries!

Ava didn't really want to be held in order to have her picture taken, can you tell??

It is very popular for Chinese people to put up the "peace" sign when they have their picture taken!

Ava decided she loved the slide!

Christine's turn!

Three happy sisters :))

Even Daddy went down the slide.

Oh, by the way.....Happy Halloween from China!! We obviously didn't celebrate Halloween, but my sweet neighbor Melissa sent this little pumpkin costume with us so we could dress Ava up!

We went back to Tequila, the mexican restaurant! There were several adoptive families there that we ran into at Shamian Island. We all arranged to meet that evening for dinner.

Ava is in heaven! She is in love with French Fries!!

Ready for some Mexican!!

"My daddy is the greatest!!"

"Now that I have a full tummy, I will show off with all my silly faces!"

We just love the lady in the picture behind us! Crazy Eyes!!
