Again, I am going to post from Laura's blog! I think it is so extremely exciting to read her viewpoint. And even more exciting to see how much it mirrors my viewpoint.
For two weeks, we kept completely quiet about
our interest in adoption. Only the people who we had contacted for
information knew about it. We wanted to make sure it was our final decision
before we told family and friends. Today we made our final decision that it was
a "YES.". Mommy, Christine, and I were waiting on the final agreement
from Daddy. As he called us all into the kitchen, he told us that "It's
going to be a big adventure, but I'm ready to Rock-n-Roll!" We all jumped
up and down filled with excitement! Later, we called Nannie & Poppa, Mimi
& Dad-O, Jane & Ashley, David & Teka, Daron & Pam, and Sean
& Lorie. Everyone was SO excited. Mommy called Mimi & Dad-O and Sean & Lorie. They were very excited and happy. She got to speak with Sophia, our 8 year old cousin, and Mommy said she asked more questions than anyone! We had Daddy call everyone else to tell them
the news. Since it was such unexpected news for everyone, he started off
saying: "We have something we want to tell you. You see, next year at this
time we will hopefully have returned from China ... with our new adopted
daughter!" I wish I could have seen the look on everyone's faces. Hearing
their reactions were priceless. Jane & Ashley screamed with excitement,
Uncle David choked up, and Daron & Pam were speechless. And of course, they
were all filled with TONS of questions. We also couldn't wait to tell people in
person. As soon as we told family, we walked over and suprised all of our
neighbors with the news(BJ & Melissa, Brad & Nicole, and George &
Charlotte).
When we told Nannie, she was overjoyed. We hadn't realized it, but it was the same day that Otto "Pop" Price (my great-grandfather) had died many years ago. This day is usually a sad one for Nannie, but she told us that it brought "A new meaning of happiness & life to a sad day. Now this day has a wonderful meaning" she said, "I will never forget this day."
Throughout the entire time leading up to our decision, God had given us many reasons to show us that this was all part of His plan. Going to that party, our experience with my ASD, and much more. We knew we moved toGeorgia
for a reason, and this might just be the reason why. Funny how things work out
sometimes (:
