We left on Sunday, the day after Laura's graduation party to go to Pinehurst to be with my mom and help her prepare for my dad's funeral.
We had to get some cute "bath" pictures while we were there.
Christine and Cousin Sophie gave Ava her bath!
We were able to celebrate Cameron's birthday while we were there. My brother and his family live in CA, so we don't get to see each other often. So this was nice.
Friday, May 31st. Laura, Sophia, and Christine
Sweet sisters!!
Daddy and Christine
Ava and I were there, along with lots of other family members and friends. We just really didn't have the opportunity to take many pictures.
My mom had a "balloon release" at the end of the funeral. They had 67 balloons, one for each year my dad lived. It was very touching.
It was an absolutely beautiful day, and the balloons in front of the white clouds were gorgeous. We tied a balloon to Ava's wrist so she wouldn't cry when hers flew away, but when she saw that everyone else was letting go of their balloons, she wanted to let go of hers too. Very sweet.
This was surely a reminder of how short life can be, and that WE are not in control of our lives. My dad fought his brief illness very bravely. It's so hard to believe he's gone. His life will always be remembered.
